A final-year student of the University of Jos (UNIJOS), identified as Jennifer Anthony, was kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be bandits. The incident occurred while she was traveling, leading to immediate panic within the university community.
The abductors have established contact with the student’s family to make their demands known. They are demanding a ransom of N30 million before she can be released from captivity.
Family members and friends of the victim expressed deep distress over the high amount demanded. They lamented that the family does not have the financial means to raise such a significant sum of money.
The University of Jos community has been thrown into a state of anxiety following the news. Students and staff have called on security agencies to intervene and ensure the safe rescue of their colleague.
Security agencies in the state have been briefed on the situation and are reportedly trailing the kidnappers. However, no breakthrough has been officially announced regarding her current location or rescue.
