Jonathan’s Legacy Stands Strong, Ex-Minister Kabiru Turaki Fires Back at Atiku
A former minister, Kabiru Turaki, has come to the defense of former President Goodluck Jonathan following recent comments by Atiku Abubakar.
Turaki said Jonathan’s legacy cannot be destroyed by what he described as false claims. He urged the public to ignore any attempt to rewrite history or diminish the former leader’s achievements.
Atiku had reportedly made statements that some viewed as critical of Jonathan’s time in office. While the exact remarks were not fully repeated, Turaki’s response made it clear that he believed the comments were unfair.
He argued that Jonathan served Nigeria with honesty and should be remembered for his contributions to the country.
The former minister pointed to several achievements during Jonathan’s presidency. According to him, these include improvements in the electoral process, progress in some sectors of the economy, and efforts to maintain national unity.
He insisted that no amount of criticism can erase the impact of those accomplishments.
Political observers believe the exchange reflects growing political conversations as Nigeria gradually approaches the 2027 elections. Both Jonathan and Atiku remain influential figures in the country’s political space, and their supporters often debate their records and leadership roles.
Turaki concluded by urging political leaders to focus more on addressing the real challenges facing Nigerians today. He said constant arguments about the past can distract from solving present problems. For now, Jonathan has not personally responded to the comments, but his supporters have made it clear they are ready to defend his legacy.
