Troops Bust ISWAP Logistics Network, Arrest Three Suppliers in Kwara

By Rachel Akper

Troops operating under Operation Savannah Shield have arrested three suspected terrorist logistics suppliers linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Security sources disclosed that the operation was carried out at about 7:35 a.m. on March 15 by troops stationed at a Forward Operating Base in Kaiama.

According to the sources, the operation began with the arrest of a suspect allegedly planning to deliver three motorcycles to a terrorist group.

Subsequent intelligence gathering and interrogation led to the arrest of two additional suspects believed to be members of ISWAP, who had reportedly arrived in Kaiama to take delivery of the motorcycles.

The suspects were said to be coordinating efforts to transport the motorcycles to terrorists operating in Nuku village, a development authorities believe could have enhanced the mobility and operational capacity of insurgents in the area.

All three suspects are currently in military custody, while investigations are ongoing to uncover further details of the logistics network and possible collaborators.

Operation Savannah Shield is part of ongoing military efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and dismantle supply chains supporting insurgent groups across Nigeria.
