The Oyo State Government has promoted 1,535 local government workers across the state’s 33 local government areas as part of the 2025 promotion exercise.

The Oyo State Local Government Service Commission announced the release of the promotion letters, which cover officers on Grade Levels 06 to 17 across the commission and seven departments within the local government service.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Education and Social Services, Lala Olufunmike Foluso, and made available to journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the beneficiaries comprise 288 officers in the Administration and General Services Department, 57 in Agriculture and Natural Resources, 40 in Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, 431 in Education and Social Services, 44 in Environmental Health Services, 315 in Finance and Supplies, and 360 in Works, Housing, Lands and Survey.

Presenting the promotion letters on behalf of the commission, Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Akinwale Akinwole, said the exercise reflected Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to staff welfare, career advancement and improved productivity in the public service.

He noted that the promotions were aimed at strengthening the capacity of the local government workforce and enhancing service delivery at the grassroots.

Akinwole described the exercise as recognition of diligence and hard work, urging the promoted officers to see their advancement as an opportunity to demonstrate greater commitment and responsibility in the discharge of their duties.

He also reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to conducting regular promotion exercises, improving staff welfare and expanding capacity-building programmes in line with the Omituntun 2.0 agenda of the Makinde administration.
