Iran Launches Missiles as Khamenei’s Son Takes Charge

Iran has launched a fresh round of missile attacks amid rising tensions in the Middle East as Mojtaba Khamenei, son of late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, reportedly assumed a leading role in the country’s leadership.

The missile launches, reported early Monday, were directed toward positions linked to Israel and its regional allies, according to security sources and regional media. The attacks come as hostilities between Iran and Israel continue to intensify following weeks of military escalation involving missile strikes, drone attacks, and retaliatory operations across the region.

The development follows a dramatic shift in Iran’s leadership structure after the death of Ali Khamenei during the ongoing conflict. Iranian political and religious authorities moved quickly to consolidate power, with Mojtaba Khamenei—long seen as influential within Iran’s political and security establishment—taking a central role in guiding the country during the crisis.

Analysts say the transition marks one of the most significant moments in Iran’s political history since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, raising concerns among observers about the consolidation of power within the ruling clerical elite and the potential for further hardline policies.

The latest missile barrage was described by Iranian officials as retaliation for recent military strikes targeting Iranian facilities and allies in the region. Several missiles were reportedly intercepted by air defense systems, while authorities in affected areas assessed damage to infrastructure.

The escalating conflict has drawn sharp reactions from global leaders, including the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, which has warned Tehran against further attacks on American interests and allied nations.

Security analysts warn that the leadership transition in Tehran combined with ongoing military confrontations could further destabilize the Middle East, heightening fears of a broader regional war involving multiple countries.

Meanwhile, international observers continue to monitor the situation closely as diplomatic efforts to ease tensions remain limited and military activities across the region intensify.
