Danmaraya Offers Scholarships to 11 Indigent Youths in Kano

Kano State Commissioner of Finance, Dr. Isma’ila Danmaraya, has awarded scholarships to 11 indigent youths from Danbatta Local Government Area in a move aimed at boosting access to education and career opportunities in the health sector.
The beneficiaries, each receiving ₦50,000 in financial assistance, have secured admission into the College of Health Technology, Bebeji, Kano State, to pursue health-related courses.
Announcing the initiative through a statement by the Ministry’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Ameen K. Yassar, Danmaraya said the gesture was part of his personal commitment to uplift disadvantaged youths in his constituency.
He explained that his inspiration stemmed from his own life story, recalling how he benefitted from scholarships provided under the leadership of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
“We were given scholarships without being personally known, and that made us who we are today. It is therefore our duty to help the younger ones progress,” he said.
The commissioner, who also addressed a gathering of youths in Danbatta on Saturday, urged them not to be discouraged by economic hardship.
“With every challenge, there is a potentiality,” he stressed, encouraging them to remain focused on education as a pathway to success.
Beyond scholarships, Danmaraya pledged additional community development projects, including the rehabilitation of boreholes in Saidawa, Fagwalawa, and Kore communities to improve clean water access.
He also committed funds to upgrade facilities at two Islamiyya schools, with provisions for interlocking works and construction of sheds to enhance learning conditions.
Commending the initiative, Prof. Abdurrahman Tahir and Dr. Umar Mustafa lauded the commissioner for setting up the Danbatta Progressive Forum, which they described as a platform complementing government efforts to address education and development challenges.
Party stalwarts, pensioners, and community members also praised the commissioner’s grassroots interventions, noting that such efforts are vital in bridging education and infrastructure gaps in rural Kano.
Kano State continues to grapple with one of the highest numbers of out-of-school children in Nigeria, making interventions like Danmaraya’s crucial for empowering the next generation.
