Adamawa Police Prosecute 117 Motorists Over Number Plate Offences

The Adamawa State Police Command have begun prosecuting 117 motorists for driving vehicles with unregistered, concealed, or tampered number plates.

The offenders were caught during a special enforcement operation across the state. The police say the move is part of a broader effort to improve security and public safety.

The arrests were made by a Special Task Force set up by the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris. According to the police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the operation led to the interception of 117 vehicles that violated vehicle registration regulations.

The motorists were immediately prosecuted in line with existing laws.

The police explained that vehicles without proper identification pose serious security threats. They make it difficult for law enforcement to track criminals and gather intelligence. The command stressed that the use of unregistered or concealed plates undermines crime prevention efforts and puts public safety at risk.

The Commissioner of Police commended the task force for its professionalism and dedication. He made it clear that the enforcement is not a one-time exercise but a continuous statewide operation. The police will sustain the monitoring and intensify efforts to ensure full compliance with registration rules.

The police advised all vehicle owners to properly register their vehicles and display their number plates clearly. They warned that violators will continue to face arrest, prosecution, and other legal sanctions. The command urged residents to support the ongoing efforts to enhance security across Adamawa State.
