Judgment Day for Alleged Thieves of Kim Kardashian’s Jewels is Here

A decade after the daring heist, a French court is set to deliver its judgment on the group of individuals accused of stealing nearly $10 million in jewelry from reality TV personality Kim Kardashian.

The trial, which commenced in April, has seen nine men and one woman stand accused, with prosecutors pushing for hefty prison sentences of up to a decade for the four alleged perpetrators.

Among the defendants is Aomar Ait Khedache, also known as “Old Omar,” who has confessed to binding Kardashian during the incident but denies masterminding the operation.

Despite his involvement, Kardashian expressed forgiveness towards Khedache after he penned a letter of apology.

“I forgive you for what has taken place, but it does not change the emotion, the feelings, the trauma, and the way my life changed,” she stated.

The 2016 robbery, which occurred at an upscale hotel in central Paris, saw Kardashian threatened at gunpoint and left tied up.

The stolen valuables, including a diamond ring gifted by her then-husband Kanye West, were valued at a staggering 3.5 million euros. Most of the loot remains unrecovered.

The defendants, many of whom are now elderly and have been dubbed the “Grandpa robbers” by French media, have been assigned colorful underworld monikers such as “Blue Eyes.”

Their advanced age has prompted their lawyers to appeal for leniency, citing the harsh realities of imprisonment at their stage in life.

Khedache’s lawyer argued that a prison sentence would be equivalent to a life sentence due to his client’s age.

Kardashian, who recently announced the completion of her law studies, testified at the trial, recounting the harrowing experience and expressing her gratitude for a second chance.

Another defendant, Yunice Abbas, has written a book detailing the heist, titled “I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian,” in which he describes the botched escape and his subsequent regret.
