Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to embrace compassion and mutual support, describing kindness and care for one another as essential values for fostering national unity and development.

Mrs. Tinubu made the appeal while receiving the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, during a courtesy visit at her office in Abuja.

She expressed confidence in Nigeria’s future, saying the country remains richly endowed with opportunities and urging citizens, particularly the younger generation, to appreciate the nation’s potential.

According to the First Lady, genuine compassion requires those who are privileged to extend a helping hand to others, stressing that such acts reflect the values needed to build a stronger and more united society.

She also welcomed the growing support of Nigeria’s international partners, noting that the confidence foreign allies continue to show in the country is encouraging.

Earlier, Ambassador Freeman commended the First Lady for the humanitarian interventions of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), particularly its programmes in women empowerment, agriculture, education, healthcare, technology and youth development.

He said the initiative has positively impacted vulnerable Nigerians and praised Mrs. Tinubu’s commitment to improving lives through targeted interventions.

Freeman, who is expected to conclude his diplomatic assignment in Nigeria within a week, said it was important for him to personally express his appreciation for the country, describing his posting as one of the most rewarding experiences of his career.

The ambassador reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Nigeria, disclosing that the Israeli government would donate additional wheelchairs to orphanages as well as three modern ambulances to support Nigeria’s healthcare system.

He also highlighted ongoing cooperation in the health and agricultural sectors, noting that Israel has trained Nigerian medical professionals, facilitated medical missions involving Israeli doctors and continued to support agricultural development initiatives across the country.

Freeman said Israel remains committed to deepening its partnership with Nigeria, describing the country as a valued friend and strategic partner with whom it hopes to expand cooperation in the years ahead.

Also present at the meeting were Israel’s Deputy Chief of Mission, Rachel Stavissky, and the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite.
