Tinubu Hosts Political Stakeholders from Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara at Presidential Villa

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday hosted a high-profile delegation of political leaders from the Caliphate of Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The delegation, led by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, included current governors, former governors, and key political stakeholders from the three northwestern states.
The meeting aimed to discuss regional political strategies and strengthen the party’s influence in the region.
During the meeting, the stakeholders informed President Tinubu that all three senators currently representing Kebbi State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to decamp to the APC.
According to sources present at the gathering, the formal defection is expected to take place on the Senate floor next Tuesday, marking a significant political shift in the state.
This development is seen as a major boost for the ruling party, as it continues to consolidate power in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
Kebbi, traditionally a battleground state, has witnessed intense political maneuvering in recent months, making this defection a critical moment for the APC.
APC Chairman Ganduje reportedly assured President Tinubu that the party is on track to secure a stronger foothold in the region, reinforcing the administration’s broader political strategy to maintain its majority in the National Assembly.
Neither the APC nor the PDP has released an official statement regarding the planned defections at the time of this report, but political analysts suggest that this move could significantly alter the political landscape in the northwest.
