Nollywood star Funke Akindele has shared stories of her student days at the University of Lagos, revealing the various hustles she engaged in to survive.

The actress and producer said she sold cakes, did nails, and even sold bed spaces to support herself while pursuing her education. Her experiences highlight the determination many students show to overcome financial challenges during their university years.

Funke learned how to do nails by watching people in Yaba and would set up in the corridor to attend to customers. She recalled a painful incident where a dissatisfied client slapped her after the service did not meet expectations.

Despite such setbacks, she continued her small businesses, including selling cakes to fellow students and make-up artists like Bimpe Onakoya.

The award-winning filmmaker also worked as a location manager, negotiating with homeowners to use their properties for film shoots and taking a commission. She mentioned customizing costumes for actresses such as Bukky Wright and Iyabo Ojo.

Funke admitted to selling bed spaces in UNILAG to generate extra income, describing herself as a natural hustler shaped by life’s lessons.
