Police Investigate Death of Phone Repairer in Bayelsa Guest House
The Bayelsa State Police Command have begun probing the mysterious death of a 40-year-old phone repairer whose body was found in a guest house in Yenagoa.
The deceased, identified simply as Felix and said to be from Cross River State, had checked into Diko Guest House along Azikoro Road with an unidentified woman on Wednesday night. His naked body was discovered the following morning by a cleaner who raised the alarm.
According to eyewitnesses, sachets of alcoholic drinks were found on a bedside table in the room. The woman who accompanied Felix was no longer in the room when the body was discovered. The incident quickly drew traders and residents to the nearby Seriake Dickson Shopping Complex where Felix operated his mobile phone repair shop.
The police have taken the owner of the guest house and the cleaner into custody to assist with the investigation. The deceased’s younger brother, Dennis, was briefly detained after he was found with Felix’s mobile phone but was later released. The spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, DSP Musa Mohammed, confirmed that preliminary investigations have commenced to determine the cause of death.
This case has left many in Yenagoa shocked and concerned about safety in guest houses. The police are working to identify the woman who checked in with Felix and establish the exact circumstances surrounding his death. An autopsy is expected to provide more clarity as the investigation continues.
