It’s Political Witch-Hunt, I’ve no Link to Adelabu’s Sister’s Kidnap, Cries Senator Ali

The Media Office of Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has issued a strong rebutal of reports circulating on social media attempting to connect the Oyo State senator to the abduction of Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her twin sons, describing the claims as malicious, defamatory and politically motivated.

In a press statement made available on Sunday, Senator Alli’s media team dismissed the publication as “irresponsible” and “completely devoid of credibility,” stressing that the lawmaker has absolutely no connection to the kidnapping incident, the individuals involved, or any activity related to violence or criminality of any kind.

The statement described it as “absurd and illogical” that anyone would seek to drag the senator’s reputation into criminal allegations founded solely on unverified claims allegedly made by a suspect under investigation. His office pointed out that even the offending report itself acknowledged that no security agency has established any link between Senator Alli and the crime, making the publication all the more reckless in their view.

Senator Alli’s media team further alleged that the attempt to tie campaign materials or stickers to the kidnapping incident was a deliberate and desperate move by political detractors.

“The attempt to mischievously link campaign materials or stickers to criminality clearly exposes a desperate agenda by political detractors to tarnish the image of a widely accepted leader whose popularity continues to grow across Oyo State,” the statement read.

The statement described Senator Alli as a serving federal lawmaker, a respected legal practitioner, and an Ibadan High Chief with decades of unbroken public service and a long-standing commitment to peace. His office insisted that his record of advocacy for the rule of law and security across Oyo State stands in direct contradiction to the nature of the allegations being levelled against him.

While urging members of the public to disregard the publication entirely, Senator Alli’s office also called on security agencies to investigate the origins of what it described as a coordinated fake news campaign and prosecute those responsible for the political blackmail. The senator, his team said, remains focused on his legislative responsibilities and his broader vision for a more secure, prosperous and united Oyo State.
