Kano to Begin Medical Screening for 3,000 Mass Wedding Couples

The Kano State Government is set to begin medical screening for 3,000 couples who will participate in a government-sponsored mass wedding. The exercise is scheduled to start on Monday, according to an official announcement. The mass wedding programme is part of the state’s efforts to support low-income residents in settling down.

The medical screening will ensure that all intending couples are healthy and fit before the wedding ceremony. This is a standard requirement to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and to promote the wellbeing of families. The government has made it clear that only couples who pass the screening will be allowed to join the mass wedding.

The mass wedding initiative is sponsored by the Kano State Government, which covers the cost of the wedding ceremonies and provides some support to the new couples. The programme has been running for several years and has helped thousands of people who cannot afford expensive traditional weddings. It is particularly popular among widows, divorcees, and low-income families.

Officials have not yet announced the exact date for the wedding ceremony itself, but the screening marks the first major step in the process. The couples are expected to go through various health checks, including tests for common ailments. Counselling sessions may also be provided to prepare them for married life.

This year’s mass wedding is one of the largest ever organised by the state government. With 3,000 couples involved, it will be a massive event requiring careful coordination. The Kano State Government has urged all selected couples to show up for their screening appointments on Monday to avoid any delays in the programme.
