Fajemirokun-Ajayi Gains Political Attention After APC Reps Primary in Ondo

Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi has emerged as one of the notable figures in the political landscape of Ondo State following the recent All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary for the Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fajemirokun-Ajayi, a businesswoman and community advocate, attracted growing attention during the build-up to last Saturday’s primary election through extensive grassroots mobilisation and outreach activities across the constituency.

Although she was not initially regarded as a leading contender in the race, political observers noted that her campaign gained momentum in the weeks preceding the primary, particularly among women and young voters.

According to the media lead of the Simi Team in Ile-Oluji, Oyawale Isaiah, the campaign focused on direct engagement with residents through ward-level consultations, community visits and interactions with traditional institutions.

In a statement released on Thursday, Isaiah said the campaign prioritised youth participation, women empowerment and grassroots political inclusion as part of efforts to strengthen support across the federal constituency.

He added that the campaign also recorded increasing visibility on digital platforms, where supporters reportedly described the movement as “small but mighty,” reflecting what they viewed as a growing challenge to established political interests in the constituency.

According to him, the rising support for Fajemirokun-Ajayi signalled changing political dynamics within the constituency, particularly among younger residents seeking broader representation and participation in governance.

Isaiah further stated that the campaign demonstrated the growing influence of grassroots mobilisation in local politics at a time when concerns persist over voter apathy and low political participation among young people.

He noted that discussions surrounding the primary election had largely centred on established political blocs, endorsements and allegations of candidate imposition, making the increasing visibility of the Fajemirokun-Ajayi campaign a significant development during the contest.

While the outcome of the primary forms part of the broader electoral process within the APC, the campaign, according to its organisers, succeeded in establishing Fajemirokun-Ajayi as an emerging political voice within the constituency.
