Fayose’s Son, Ekiti Assembly Speaker Secure APC Tickets for 2027 Polls
The All Progressives Congress has concluded its primary elections for the 2027 Ekiti State House of Assembly polls, with several prominent political figures, including Boluwatife Fayose, son of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, emerging as candidates.
Also returned as candidates are the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, Deputy Speaker Bolaji Olagbaju, and Chairman of Ekiti South-West Local Government, Richard Apolola.
The chairman of the APC House of Assembly Primary Election Committee in Ekiti State, Lateef Ibirogba, announced the results on Thursday in Ado Ekiti after receiving reports from collation officers across the state’s 26 constituencies.
Ibirogba said the primaries were conducted in two phases, with 17 constituencies producing candidates through affirmation after aspirants emerged unopposed, while elections were held in the remaining nine constituencies.
According to him, affirmation processes were conducted for aspirants in constituencies where no opposition was recorded, in line with party guidelines.
Among those returned through affirmation are Ayorinde Ogunsakin for Ikole 1, Olaoye Ogunsakin for Ekiti East 2, Bose Olowookere for Efon, Bolaji Olagbaju for Ado 2, Oludare Ogunlana for Ekiti South West 2, and Kemi Olaleye for Oye 2.
Others include Emmanuel Omotayo for Ise/Orun, Johnson Oyekola for Ekiti West 2, Sunkanmi Owolabi for Ikere 2, Ojo Adeolu for Ido-Osi 1, Atinuke Omolayo for Emure, and Sunkanmi Onipede for Moba 1.
Also affirmed were Kemisola Ogunleye for Ikere 1, Agbede Opeyemi for Irepodun-Ifelodun 1, Yomi Ayorinde for Ido-Osi 2, Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye for Ikole 2, and Olalekan Ijidale for Gbonyin Constituency.
In the nine constituencies where elections were contested, the committee declared Ahmed Olutope winner for Ekiti East 1, Monsurat Oladipupo for Ekiti West 1, Richard Apolola for Ekiti South West 1, and Ayodeji Adarabierin for Ado 1.
Other winners include Emmanuel Omolaja for Ilejemeje, Boluwatife Fayose for Irepodun-Ifelodun 2, Eyitayo Fabunmi for Oye 1, Kole Ayeni for Ijero, and Matthew Kekereawo for Moba 2.
The primaries were conducted across wards in the state on Wednesday as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
