IGP Visits Oyo Communities After Deadly Attack, Orders Security Reinforcement

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Saturday visited affected communities in Oriire Local Government Area after a deadly attack and abduction incident rocked the area on Friday.

During the visit, the police chief sympathised with families of those killed in the attack and described the incident as disturbing and unacceptable, assuring residents that security agencies would not relent in efforts to restore calm to the communities.

Disu was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police for Kwara State, Ojo Adekimi, owing to the closeness of the affected axis to border communities within the state.

Also on the visit was Abayomi Shogunle, as part of moves to strengthen security around schools and improve coordinated response efforts.

The IGP directed the immediate deployment of additional tactical operatives and intelligence teams to reinforce ongoing security operations across the affected communities and nearby forests.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the police boss also met with the Commissioner of Police for Oyo State, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, alongside other security stakeholders, where he received updates on rescue efforts and security deployments in the area.

Disu assured residents, parents and guardians that the Nigeria Police Force, working with other security agencies, had stepped up intelligence gathering, coordinated search-and-rescue missions and tactical operations aimed at securing the release of abducted victims and arresting those behind the attack.
