Priest’s Primary Defeat Linked to Orsu Crisis Allegations
Popular nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest has come under criticism following his reported loss in a recent political primary, with some residents and commentators alleging that his past response to insecurity in Orsu contributed to the outcome.
A social media post shared by X user IjeleSpeaks2 claimed that many people from Orsu community were opposed to the businessman’s political ambition due to his alleged handling of concerns raised during the period of violence linked to the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the area.
According to the post, some residents had approached Cubana Chief Priest in Owerri during the height of attacks in Orsu, seeking his assistance in drawing the attention of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to the plight of affected communities.
The commentator alleged that the businessman initially ignored the group and only engaged with them after they reportedly purchased expensive drinks at his establishment.
The post further claimed that after the meeting, the group contacted a member of his team to seek further assistance, but their efforts allegedly yielded no response.
The social media commentary also referenced previous statements credited to Cubana Chief Priest regarding Nnamdi Kanu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguing that such positions may have negatively affected his support base in Orsu.
The commentator maintained that dissatisfaction among some residents may have played a role in the outcome of the primary election and warned that the businessman could face stronger resistance if he contests future elections on another platform.
Neither Cubana Chief Priest nor his representatives had publicly responded to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
