House Leader, Ihonvbere Loses Edo APC Reps Ticket

The Leader of the House of Representatives, Julius Ihonvbere, has lost his bid to return to the National Assembly after being defeated in the All Progressives Congress primary for the Owan Federal Constituency in Edo State.

Ihonvbere, who currently represents the constituency, was unseated by Ijegbai Andrew, who secured the party’s ticket to contest the House of Representatives seat.

Andrew, a former commissioner in the state’s Ministry of Mining, emerged victorious in the party’s internal election held ahead of the next general polls.

The primary result marks a major upset within the APC, as Ihonvbere is one of the most prominent lawmakers in the current federal legislature.
