Mohbad’s Widow Accuses Father-in-Law Over DNA Test Controversy

Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer, Mohbad, has alleged that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, wants the DNA test involving her son, Liam, to return a negative result amid the lingering controversy surrounding the singer’s death.

Speaking during a recent interview that has generated reactions on social media, Omowunmi claimed the dispute between both families intensified after Mohbad’s death in September 2023.

According to her, the late singer’s father became more interested in issues surrounding properties, royalties and the paternity of Liam rather than supporting the grieving family. She stated that her relationship with Joseph Aloba was initially cordial before disagreements began following the birth of her son.

Omowunmi alleged that tensions worsened after Mohbad’s death, with repeated public demands for a DNA test to confirm Liam’s paternity. What he actually wants can never happen. He actually wants the DNA of my child to be negative,” she said during the interview.

The DNA controversy has remained one of the major unresolved issues surrounding Mohbad’s death, with Joseph Aloba insisting that the singer should not be buried until a paternity test is conducted.

Omowunmi, however, maintained that she has never opposed the test and insisted that Liam is Mohbad’s biological child. Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances that sparked nationwide outrage and calls for justice from fans, celebrities and civil society groups.

Following public pressure, authorities exhumed the singer’s body for autopsy as investigations into the cause of his death continued.

The case has continued to attract widespread public attention, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the prolonged family dispute and the delay in concluding issues surrounding the late singer’s burial and investigation.
