Troops Neutralise 48 ISWAP Terrorists in Borno, Yobe

Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have inflicted heavy casualties on Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists.

The operations took place in Bitta, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, and at the North East Theatre Training School in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State between 29 and 30 October 2026.

In Bitta, troops successfully disrupted an attempted terrorist assault on the night of 29 October. A combined response involving ground forces and air support overwhelmed the attackers, preventing the assault and causing significant losses among the terrorists.

In a related operation, troops launched a counter-attack against a large group of ISWAP fighters who struck the training school in Buni Yadi from the evening of 29 October into the early hours of 30 October.

The engagement lasted about five hours and was coordinated by the Theatre Command with the support of intelligence, surveillance and air assets.

The counter-offensive resulted in the deaths of 48 terrorists. Troops recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, including 42 AK-47 rifles, five PKT machine guns, four general purpose machine guns, one 60mm mortar, 105 AK-47 magazines and two video cameras.

The successful operations highlight the continued efforts of the military to degrade terrorist capabilities and protect communities in the North East.
