Tinubu Need Not Attend Every APC Rally, Insists Oshiomhole
Senator Adams Oshiomhole has defended President Bola Tinubu’s decision not to attend every campaign rally ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the President’s choice was a matter of preference and the prerogative of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Oshiomhole made the comments during an interview on Arise Television on Friday. He was responding to questions about the President’s planned absence from some APC campaign rallies and his religious activities in Mecca.
The former Edo State governor dismissed suggestions of any contradiction between the President’s spiritual obligations and his duty to govern. He said there was no conflict in Tinubu continuing to worship and pray while carrying out his responsibilities as President.
Oshiomhole argued that a president does not need to be physically present at every engagement to perform his duties. He compared the role to that of a teacher who can now instruct students online without being in the classroom at all times.
He further stated that the APC has the right to decide how it organises its campaign and where the President appears. Oshiomhole insisted that the issue had been discussed enough and should no longer be a subject of debate.
