The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has commended the Enugu State Government for its infrastructure and security projects following a tour of major developments executed by Governor Peter Mbah’s administration.

The commendation was made during an interactive session between NGE executives and Mbah at the Government House, Enugu, after members of the guild inspected several projects on the sidelines of the 2026 All Nigerian Editors Conference (ANEC).

The conference attracted more than 300 editors, senior media executives and media veterans.

NGE President, Eze Anaba, said the projects demonstrated the potential of sub-national governments to drive economic development through deliberate investment in infrastructure.

Anaba highlighted several projects visited by the editors, including the Enugu International Hospital, road networks, the rehabilitated Hotel Presidential, Smart Schools, the tourism complex at Ngwo Pines and the Integrated Livestock Hub.

He particularly mentioned the 40-kilometre Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Ikem dual carriageway, which he said was expected to provide a new gateway to the North-Central region.

The NGE president also cited the state’s pipe-borne water projects, modern transport terminals and the rehabilitation of previously inactive industries among the developments inspected by the editors.

According to him, the group had also visited some of the projects during its previous convention in the state and had observed further progress on several of them.

Anaba said the Integrated Livestock Hub, which was presented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, could accommodate up to 40,000 cattle.

He also highlighted the state’s Command and Control Centre, saying the facility had contributed to efforts to reduce crime in the state.

Anaba said the decision by some state governments to send officials to study policies and programmes implemented by the Mbah administration reflected the value of peer review among governors.

He said such exchanges could enable states to learn from one another and accelerate development.

At the closing gala of the conference, former Ogun State Governor and media veteran, Chief Segun Oshoba, also praised the administration’s infrastructure and security initiatives.

Oshoba urged other state governments to consider deploying technology-driven surveillance systems to strengthen security.

He referred to the response of the state’s security agencies following an alleged kidnapping incident in Affain Udi Local Government Area, saying the deployment of security resources led to the apprehension of the suspected kidnappers and the safe return of the victims.

Oshoba commended Mbah for the security response and said he would continue to encourage the Federal Government to promote similar initiatives in other states.

Responding, Mbah thanked the editors for inspecting the projects and said the various developments were designed to complement one another.

He said the administration’s investments in security, transportation, tourism and other sectors were part of a broader strategy to grow the state’s economy, reduce poverty and create an environment where people could live, work and invest.

Mbah said the administration had set a target of growing Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion and positioning the state as a destination for investment, business, tourism and living.

He added that the projects were tied to the administration’s campaign commitments and were intended to contribute collectively to the state’s long-term economic development.
