Troops Foil Kidnap Plot at Late General Bagudos’ Plateau Residence
Troops operating under Sector 1 of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) have thwarted an alleged kidnapping operation at the residence of the late General Bagudos in Jebbu Bassa, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attempted attack reportedly took place around 10 p.m. on September 9, following a distress call alerting security authorities to a suspected kidnapping operation at the residence.
Following the alert, troops, alongside personnel from the 3 Division Garrison and Keystone Bassa Division, immediately moved to the area. Their swift response forced the suspected kidnappers to abandon the operation and escape into the surrounding area.
The fleeing suspects were reportedly believed to be armed Fulani herders. Although several members of the group managed to escape, security personnel later apprehended one of the suspects.
The arrested individual is currently undergoing interrogation as authorities seek to obtain information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the other members of the group.
Security operatives have since intensified their search for the remaining suspects while strengthening efforts to prevent further criminal attacks within the area.
