The Federal Government has reaffirmed that King’s College, Lagos, remains its property despite recent reforms involving the management and development of the institution.

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, said the school has not been sold, transferred or relinquished to any private group, stressing that ownership remains with the Federal Government.

He explained that recent arrangements involving the institution are aimed at improving infrastructure, governance and educational standards while preserving the school’s status as a federal unity college.

According to the minister, the initiative is designed to mobilise additional resources and expertise for the development of the institution without affecting government ownership or oversight.

Alausa noted that concerns and misconceptions surrounding the arrangement were unnecessary, maintaining that the Federal Government remains fully responsible for the school’s policy direction and academic standards.

He added that efforts are ongoing to improve learning conditions, renovate facilities and strengthen the quality of education provided at the historic institution.

The minister assured students, parents, staff and alumni that the reforms are intended to enhance the college’s capacity and long-term sustainability while preserving its legacy as one of Nigeria’s foremost secondary schools.
