Baba-Ahmed Says Only Divine Intervention Can Halt Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election Bid
Former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu and ex-spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has said only divine intervention can prevent the President from securing a second term in the 2027 general election.
Baba-Ahmed argued that the current political landscape heavily favours the incumbent, citing the ruling party’s growing influence and control across key political structures in the country.
According to him, opposition parties face significant challenges, including internal divisions and difficulties in building a strong coalition capable of mounting a formidable challenge against the ruling party.
He noted that President Tinubu remains a dominant force in Nigerian politics and continues to enjoy considerable political advantages ahead of the next election cycle.
Baba-Ahmed, however, stressed the importance of strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring that future elections are conducted in a transparent, credible and peaceful manner.
His comments come amid increasing political activities, consultations and alliance-building efforts by various parties and interest groups preparing for the 2027 general elections.
