Nollywood veteran Omotunde Ogundimu Pleads for Financial Assistance over Cervical Cancer Battle
Veteran Nollywood actress, Omotunde Ogundimu has made an emotional appeal to Nigerians for financial assistance as she continues to battle cervical cancer, a condition she says she has lived with since 2024. The actress broke down in tears during an interview with fellow actress Biola Adebayo, which was later shared online, as she opened up about the pain and exhaustion that have come with her ongoing treatment.
Ogundimu explained that her treatment has come with severe side effects, including pain that makes even basic daily activities difficult. Through tears, she said all she wants is to be well again and to live a peaceful life free of the suffering she currently endures.
She described feeling exhausted, both physically and emotionally, after nearly two years of managing the illness.
The actress, who has spent about 35 years working in the Nigerian film industry, said the financial strain of her treatment has become increasingly difficult to bear.
She revealed that acting jobs have not been easy to come by despite her decades of experience, and that when work does come, she is sometimes paid as little as twenty to forty thousand naira, an amount she says falls far short of what is needed to sustain her ongoing medical care.
Ogundimu also spoke about her family circumstances, noting that she has been a widow since her husband died in 2012 and that her children have already spent nearly everything they have trying to support her treatment. With her options narrowing, she pleaded directly with Nigerians to come to her aid, saying she no longer knows who else to turn to for help.
Her appeal has since drawn attention across social media, with many Nigerians expressing sympathy for her situation and calling for support for the veteran actress as she continues to fight the illness.
