Osimhen Scores, Goes Off as Galatasaray Edge Basaksehir 3-2
Victor Osimhen scored and then left the pitch injured as Galatasaray came from behind late to beat Istanbul Basaksehir 3-2 in the Super Lig.
The Super Eagles striker put the visitors ahead in the 16th minute, finishing a move started by Lucas Torreira for his fifth goal of the season. He lasted only 17 more minutes before he was replaced by Barış Alper Yılmaz.
Basaksehir levelled after the break through Eldor Shomurodov’s 66th-minute penalty. Torreira restored Galatasaray’s lead five minutes later. Davinson Sánchez then turned the ball into his own net and the game looked headed for a draw until Gabriel Sara curled in a 90th-minute free-kick.
Galatasaray stay top with 10 points from four matches. Basaksehir finished with 10 men after Umut Bozok was sent off late.
Attention now turns to how serious Osimhen’s problem is. He has been central to Galatasaray’s start. An early exit after a goal is a win on the scoresheet and a worry for the weeks ahead.
