Fubara Calls for Respect of Rivers Peace Process, Declares State at Rest
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has appealed to all stakeholders to honour the ongoing reconciliation efforts in the state, asserting that the political atmosphere has now settled.
He made the remarks while commissioning a new facility, using the opportunity to underscore that stability is a prerequisite for meaningful progress.
The governor expressed satisfaction that the prolonged period of tension appears to be subsiding, and he urged every party involved to remain committed to the dialogue already underway.
He stressed that without a calm environment, the administration’s ambitious development agenda would not be feasible.
Fubara also highlighted the importance of equipping young people with practical skills, pointing to the newly opened centre as a step toward reducing dependence on public sector employment.
He reiterated his administration’s focus on legacy projects that will benefit future generations.
Meanwhile, reconciliation efforts among the state’s political factions have continued to gain traction in recent weeks. Stakeholders have reportedly made considerable headway in bridging differences, with assurances that past disagreements will not lead to victimisation.
Observers note that the growing spirit of cooperation marks a significant turn in the state’s political landscape, and many are hopeful that the current peace will be sustained ahead of future electoral cycles.
