Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, will regroup later this month in Tunisia for the fourth window of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers, with head coach David Fizdale naming a formidable 12-man roster for the team’s crucial second-round campaign.

The 12-man selection features a strong blend of NBA talent and seasoned international campaigners, led by Chimezie Metu, Josh Okogie, Caleb Agada, Stan Okoye, Ike Nwamu, Udoka Azubuike, Efe Abogidi, Ebuka Izundu, Manny Obaseki, Jordan Ogundiran, and Michael Efevberha.

One of the most notable developments in the roster is the highly anticipated return of Chima Moneke. The dynamic forward is set to feature for Nigeria in an official senior international match for the first time since the FIBA AfroBasket qualifiers in February 2021.

Former NBA head coach, Fizdale will be supported on the bench by a strong technical staff, including Dan Craig, Quinton Crawford, Deji Akindele, and Dapo Adegbile.

Nigeria advanced to the second phase alongside 11 other nations after navigating through the initial windows. The teams carry their first-round records into this second phase, making every contest crucial in the race to secure a ticket to Qatar.

Placed in a competitive pool alongside Cameroon, South Sudan, Guinea, Tunisia, and Cape Verde, D’Tigers will open this window against Cameroon on August 27, followed by high-stakes clashes against South Sudan on August 28 and Cape Verde on August 30.

The top two teams from each group, along with the best third-placed nation, will ultimately secure Africa’s five qualification slots for the 2027 FIBA World Cup.

With the final qualifying window set for February 2027, Fizdale’s squad will be aiming for a strong showing in Tunisia to cement their standing in the group.
