Burna Boy Reveals Vini Jr, Jaylen Brown Plan Nigeria Visit

Afrobeats star, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has revealed that Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior and NBA player Jaylen Brown are part of a private group chat where they recently discussed plans to visit Nigeria.

The Grammy-winning singer made the disclosure during an interview with ESPN UK, published on its YouTube channel on Tuesday.

Burna Boy said the trio belongs to what they refer to as their “Seven group chat”, adding that their latest conversation focused on bringing the two sports stars to Nigeria.

He said the group discusses a range of issues, but declined to disclose further details beyond their plans to visit the country.

The singer also spoke about his football academy in Nigeria, explaining that the project was inspired by a documentary he watched about community football in Jamaica.

According to him, he established the academy to provide opportunities for young footballers and hopes some of them will eventually play for top European clubs, including Manchester United.

Burna Boy also recounted his encounters with several prominent footballers, including former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and England captain Harry Kane.

He said Pogba attended his 30th birthday celebration in the United States after unexpectedly visiting him at his home.

The singer said he met Kane while attending his uncle’s birthday dinner and subsequently invited the England captain to the celebration.

Burna Boy further named former Nigeria international Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha as his greatest footballer of all time.

He argued that the former Bolton Wanderers midfielder had not received sufficient recognition for his influence and ability, saying Okocha deserved to be mentioned among football’s greatest legends.

The singer went as far as suggesting that Okocha’s name should be mentioned before Brazilian football icon Ronaldinho when discussing the sport’s all-time greats.
