The presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has paid a solidarity visit to victims affected by recent violent attacks across rural communities in Benue State.

During the visit, Obi spent time comforting injured survivors receiving medical attention, while also assessing the extent of displacement and destruction wrought on rural farming settlements.

Addressing local leaders, community members, and humanitarian workers, Obi expressed profound sadness over the recurring loss of innocent human lives and the destruction of property across agrarian communities.

He urged the Federal Government to immediately step up security interventions, deploy additional personnel, and enforce proactive intelligence measures to protect vulnerable rural dwellers from armed assailants.

Obi stressed that guaranteeing internal security remains the primary constitutional duty of government, noting that persistent rural instability directly threatens food production, agricultural livelihoods, and national economic stability.

He further called on disaster relief agencies and humanitarian organizations to urgently provide emergency relief materials, medical supplies, and temporary shelters to support the displaced victims.
