The All Progressives Congress in Ebonyi State has commenced its campaign for the August 22 Local Government Area elections.

The kick-off event held in Ikwo Local Government Area with a strong focus on grassroots mobilisation across the state’s 13 LGAs and 171 wards.

Governor Francis Nwifuru, represented by Deputy Governor Patricia Obila, presented the party’s flag to the chairmanship candidate for Ikwo, Chidi Nwode. He described the party’s candidates as tested, trusted, and capable of delivering results.

The governor urged party supporters to run issue-based campaigns and avoid any actions that could disrupt the peaceful conduct of the election.

He also called on the faithful to take the candidates into the communities and make them acceptable to the people.

Former Ebonyi governor Martin Elechi advised political actors to respect citizens’ rights to belong to any party of their choice. He stressed that campaigns should not turn into periods of conflict or hostility and expressed confidence in the APC’s chances based on public support for the current administration.

Other leaders, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and the APC state chairman, encouraged residents to collect and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards. They urged active participation in the polls and called for peace before, during, and after the election.
