The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Oyo State election, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has pledged to establish a committee within 48 hours of assuming office to review the controversial 110-kilometre Ibadan Circular Road project.

Alli said the proposed committee would carry out a comprehensive assessment of the project and examine concerns surrounding its implementation before making recommendations on the way forward.

The APC candidate made the pledge during the “A Day with BSA” media parley organised for journalists under the aegis of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council.

According to him, the panel would investigate issues raised by residents, including allegations of land acquisition irregularities, inadequate compensation for affected property owners and other grievances linked to the project.

While acknowledging the importance of the Ibadan Circular Road as a major infrastructure initiative,

Alli maintained that development projects should be implemented in a manner that protects the rights and welfare of citizens.

He alleged that the controversy surrounding the road project has affected homes, schools, places of worship, business premises and undeveloped land, adding that some residents were also reported to have lost their lives in connection with the situation.

Alli assured affected communities that his administration, if elected, would ensure fairness in addressing all legitimate concerns, promising that those deserving of assistance and justice would receive appropriate attention.

He emphasised that safeguarding the lives, property and well-being of Oyo residents should remain central to the execution of infrastructure projects across the state.
