NSIB, NCAA Partner to Enhance Support for Families of Air Crash Victims

The Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have initiated strategic discussions in Abuja to strengthen institutional cooperation and elevate support services for victims of aircraft accidents and their families.

The collaborative effort aims to align Nigeria’s emergency response frameworks with international aviation standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Led by NSIB’s Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance, Funke Adebayo-Arowojobe, and NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the agencies discussed establishing a Joint Family Assistance Working Group and a dedicated task force to clearly outline agency responsibilities, improve information-sharing protocols, and conduct joint capacity-building training.

The initiative focuses on preserving the dignity of accident victims, providing timely and accurate updates to affected families, and ensuring compassionate institutional engagement during post-incident investigations across the nation’s transport sector.
