Nasarawa State Governor Reshuffles Cabinet, Six Commissioners Dropped

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has relieved six commissioners of their appointments during a cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening administration and repositioning the government ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision was disclosed following the fifth State Executive Council meeting of 2026, held at the Government House in Lafia and presided over by Governor Sule.

Addressing council members, the governor dismissed circulating rumours of a complete cabinet dissolution, clarifying that only targeted adjustments and strategic reconfigurations were being implemented to advance the state’s development agenda.

Secretary to the State Government Shuaibu Magaji confirmed to correspondents that six portfolio heads were relieved of their duties to make way for new appointees.

The restructuring affects leadership in six key ministries: Security and Sundry Matters; Women Affairs and Social Development; Works, Transport and Housing; Science and Technology; Information, Culture and Tourism; and Lands and Survey.

Magaji expressed gratitude to the outgoing cabinet members for their service and dedication, noting that nominations for their replacements will be announced upon conclusion of the official review process.
