Troops Nab Two Suspected Militia Members Linked to Attack on NIPSS
Security forces in Plateau State have made another breakthrough by arresting two men suspected of being part of a Berom militia group involved in a recent attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru.
The operation took place in the Trade Centre area of Jos South, where the suspects were picked up during an intelligence-led raid. This development has boosted ongoing investigations into the incident that nearly compromised a key national institution.
One of the arrested individuals has been identified as Mr. Aboi, while the name of the second suspect is still being withheld as questioning continues. Security sources say the men are providing useful information that could help locate other members of the group responsible for the failed assault on the NIPSS facility.
The arrests follow an earlier clash where troops engaged the attackers and recovered a rifle previously stolen from a slain soldier.
The attempted attack on the NIPSS had already raised serious security concerns in the Kuru-Vom axis, prompting heightened patrols and surveillance in the area. Residents in nearby communities have been living with tension as violence continues to disrupt normal life. The latest arrests are seen as a positive step toward restoring calm and bringing those behind the attacks to justice.
Investigations remain active, with authorities stressing that the suspects will be given fair treatment while more details are uncovered. The Berom Youth Moulders Association had earlier pushed back against some reports linking the community to the violence, calling for careful verification of information. Security agencies continue to work on establishing the full picture of what happened during the incident.
As operations intensify around strategic locations in Plateau State, there is hope that these arrests will lead to more breakthroughs and deter future attacks. The people of the state are eager for lasting peace, and many are watching closely to see how the situation evolves in the coming days. With sustained efforts from the military and other security outfits, the region may soon see reduced threats from such groups.
