Governor Uba Sani Grants Financial Lifeline, Business Start-Up Kits to Freed Kaduna Ex-Inmates

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has extended a comprehensive financial lifeline and empowerment package to dozens of ex-inmates who were recently granted state pardon.

The governor announced the intervention during a rehabilitation and reintegration ceremony organized for the freed individuals. Sani emphasized that true justice must be accompanied by reformation and economic support, noting that releasing individuals back into society without financial means often traps them in a vicious cycle of poverty and re-offending.

Under the state’s new reintegration framework, each of the ex-inmates received financial grants to establish small-scale businesses, alongside essential start-up kits tailored to various vocational skills they acquired through correctional training programs, including tailoring, carpentry, and barbing. Additionally, the governor directed that those interested in formal education or further technical training be fully sponsored by the state government.

Governor Sani urged the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity to turn their lives around and become productive citizens who contribute positively to the development of Kaduna State.

He also appealed to families and community leaders to embrace the reformed individuals with open arms, warning that social stigmatization remains a major barrier to successful community reintegration.
