Steve Crown, Wife Welcome First Child
Nigerian gospel music minister, Steve Crown has announced the arrival of his first child with his wife, Ruth, sending waves of joy and celebration across the Nigerian Christian community and beyond.
The singer, who is widely known for his worship anthems You Are Great and You Are Yahweh, broke the news on social media on Friday, sharing photos of himself and his wife alongside an overflowing expression of gratitude to God.
The announcement drew thousands of congratulatory messages from fans, fellow gospel ministers, and music lovers within hours of going live.
In the post, Steve Crown described the birth of their child as a blessing beyond words. “Some blessings cannot be explained, they can only be celebrated,” he wrote. “Thank You, Jesus, for all You have done. Thank You Jesus for the gift of our baby. A new chapter, a new blessing, a new reason to thank God every day.”
He also prayed for others still believing for a similar testimony, adding, “May God bless everyone that desires this beautiful testimony. Amen.”
The arrival of the child marks a significant and joyful milestone for the couple, whose love story has itself been closely followed by admirers in the gospel music space. Steve Crown got engaged to Ruth Thomas an entrepreneur, event planner, and interior decorator from Umuahia in Abia State in April 2025, and the two went on to wed in a ceremony that attracted widespread attention. Their union, like his music, became a moment of celebration for the broader Nigerian Christian community.
Born in Abuja and hailing from Benue State, Steve Crown began his musical journey in the choir of his local Anglican Church, where both his parents sang. He broke into national and international consciousness with You Are Great in 2016 a song that has since accumulated tens of millions of views on YouTube and has remained one of the most recognised voices in contemporary Nigerian gospel music ever since.
The birth of his first child now adds a deeply personal chapter to what has already been a remarkable story of faith and artistry.
