North-Central APC Forum Withdraws Ultimatum to Party Chairman

The North-Central Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has withdrawn the two-week ultimatum it earlier issued to the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and apologised for its previous stance.

The forum announced the decision in a statement released late Thursday and signed by its National Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga. It said the ultimatum was based on inaccurate information and a misunderstanding of issues surrounding the conduct of the party’s primaries.

The group had previously demanded Yilwatda’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the APC primary elections and threatened legal action if he failed to step down within the stipulated period.

However, the forum said it had since reviewed the situation and discovered that its earlier position did not reflect the true state of affairs within the party.

According to the statement, the forum remains committed to the unity, growth and stability of the APC and has no intention of creating divisions or contributing to any crisis within the ruling party.

The group also suggested that certain individuals opposed to the party’s progress may have influenced its earlier position through the dissemination of misleading information.

It expressed regret over the tensions generated by the ultimatum and offered an unreserved apology to Yilwatda and other party leaders.

The forum further called on APC members across the country to rally behind the National Working Committee (NWC) under Yilwatda’s leadership in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Reaffirming its support for President Bola Tinubu, the forum pledged to mobilise support in the North-Central region and reiterated its target of delivering six million votes for the president in the 2027 presidential election.
