DSP Shot Dead Weeks to Retirement During Anti-Thuggery Operation in Kano
A Deputy Superintendent of Police attached to the Hotoro Division in Kano State, DSP Sani Isah, has been killed during an operation to quell a violent clash involving suspected rival thugs in the state.
The incident reportedly occurred when the officer and other security personnel were deployed to restore calm and disperse the groups engaged in the confrontation.
During the operation, one of the suspects allegedly fired a locally made gun, striking the officer.
DSP Isah was said to have been rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment but was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Sources within the community described the deceased officer as a dedicated and respected policeman who had spent more than 30 years in service. He was reportedly only weeks away from retirement at the time of the incident.
The killing has further heightened concerns over increasing cases of thuggery and violent unrest across parts of Kano State, particularly in areas such as Hotoro, Fagge, Koki, Gyadi-Gyadi and neighbouring communities.
Residents have continued to call for stronger security measures to address the recurring clashes and criminal activities linked to youth gangs in the state.
