Ndigbo Stakeholders Present Political Demands to APC Ahead of 2027
Some stakeholders within the Igbo community in Lagos have reportedly issued a strong political warning to the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections, demanding greater political inclusion and protection of their interests in the state.
According to the claims circulating online, the group is seeking the allocation of federal legislative tickets in constituencies such as Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, and Oshodi-Isolo to candidates of Igbo extraction. They also called for increased representation in state and local government appointments, arguing that the Igbo population contributes significantly to the social and economic life of Lagos.
The stakeholders further demanded equal opportunities for Igbos to contest elective positions including councillor, local government chairman, and governorship offices without discrimination or intimidation.
Another major concern raised was the alleged demolition of properties and businesses owned by Igbo residents in the state. The group called for an immediate halt to such actions and requested stronger guarantees for the protection of lives, businesses, and investments.
They also urged authorities to ensure free and fair elections by preventing voter harassment and intimidation during future polls.
The statement reportedly warned that failure to address these concerns could influence the voting direction of many Igbo residents in Lagos during the 2027 elections.
The development has generated widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians debating issues surrounding political inclusion, ethnic relations, and representation in Lagos politics. However, there has been no official response yet from the All Progressives Congress or the Lagos State government regarding the reported demands.
