Lagos APC Chieftain Vows to Unseat Oshodi-Isolo II Reps Member

A member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Henry Ajomale, has vowed to ensure the removal of the Member representing Oshodi-Isolo II Federal Constituency, Okey-Joe Onuakalusi.

Ajomale made the remarks following controversy surrounding a recent empowerment programme list released by the lawmaker, which sparked backlash over the ethnic distribution of beneficiaries.

Onuakalusi had recently published names of beneficiaries of a foreign training scheme covering courses such as nursing, cybersecurity and food processing in countries including China and South Africa.

However, the list generated criticism after reports indicated that 24 of the 29 beneficiaries were from the lawmaker’s Igbo ethnic group, while five were identified as Yoruba.

Speaking on the matter, Ajomale accused the lawmaker of disenfranchising indigenes of the constituency and insisted that the political leadership in the area would no longer tolerate such representation.

He alleged that internal divisions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) contributed to Onuakalusi’s emergence as a federal lawmaker, describing it as a “mistake” that would not be repeated.

Ajomale, addressing constituents in Yoruba, said efforts would be made to ensure that future political representation reflects the interests of local residents, stressing that the party was now more united ahead of upcoming elections.

He further argued that political leadership in Oshodi-Isolo II should benefit the local population, adding that the current situation would be corrected in future electoral cycles.

The GAC member also claimed that previous internal disputes within the party had weakened its electoral choices but maintained that the party had now resolved its differences.

Ajomale insisted that the party would present candidates who better reflect local interests in future elections, while reiterating his opposition to the continued representation of the current lawmaker.
