FRSC Records 12% Drop in Road Crash Deaths

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recorded a significant reduction in road crash deaths across Nigeria. In the first quarter of 2026, there was a 12 percent drop in the number of people who died from road accidents compared to the previous period. This improvement has been welcomed by many Nigerians.

Road safety officials attributed the reduction to better enforcement of traffic rules, increased public awareness campaigns, and improved vehicle inspections.

The FRSC has been working hard to reduce accidents by punishing traffic offenders and educating drivers on safe driving habits. The positive result shows that these efforts are beginning to yield results.

Despite the drop, authorities have warned that more still needs to be done. Many accidents are still caused by speeding, drunk driving, and poor road conditions. The FRSC has promised to sustain its efforts and introduce new strategies to further reduce road crashes in the coming months.

This achievement comes as a relief to many families who have lost loved ones to road accidents in the past. Road safety remains a major concern in Nigeria, with thousands of lives lost every year. The 12 percent reduction is seen as a step in the right direction.

As the FRSC continues its work, citizens are encouraged to obey traffic rules and drive responsibly. The corps has urged motorists to support its efforts by avoiding dangerous driving habits. Many hope this positive trend will continue throughout the year and lead to even fewer road deaths in Nigeria.
