Premium Times Honours Staff at Combined 2024/2025 Awards

Premium Times has recognised outstanding performance among its reporters, editors, and digital team members at a combined awards ceremony covering the 2024 and 2025 editorial cycles.

Editor-in-chief, Misikilu Mojeed, said at the event on Saturday that the initiative celebrates exceptional journalism and reinforces the organisation’s commitment to ethical, public interest reporting. He added that since its establishment in 2011, the platform has earned a reputation for investigative work that promotes accountability and drives institutional response.

Managing editor, Idris Akinbajo, explained that the awards, introduced in 2021, are designed to reward excellence while encouraging consistency and courage in the newsroom. He noted that new categories such as editor of the year and digital strategist of the year were added this year to reflect evolving media demands.

In the 2024 category, Kabiru Yusuf from the investigations desk was named journalist of the year after securing three story of the month awards. Folashade Ogunrinde won story of the year, while Bisi Abidoye and Aaron Cole were named editor of the year and digital strategist of the year, respectively.

For the 2025 cycle, Mariam Ileyemi of the development desk emerged reporter of the year, also with three monthly wins. The story of the year award was jointly awarded to Oladeinde Olawoyin and Ogunrinde. Nike Adebowale-Tambe was named editor of the year, while Cole shared the digital strategist of the year prize with Esther Adaji.

Recipients were presented with plaques and cash prizes, with additional bonuses provided by anonymous donors. Organisers said the awards are part of ongoing efforts to sustain high-quality journalism and strengthen public confidence in the media.
