Ghana Military Escort Convoy Attacked in Binduri, 3 Civilians Killed
A convoy of the Ghana Armed Forces escorting civilians has come under attack in Binduri in Ghana’s Upper East Region, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries.
The incident occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026, while the convoy was transporting about 140 civilians from Bawku to Bolgatanga, according to an official statement from the military.
The statement said the convoy was ambushed by unidentified armed men who opened fire repeatedly on the vehicles, leading to the deaths of three civilians and leaving one other injured.
Despite the attack, the military personnel accompanying the convoy reportedly responded and repelled the assailants during an exchange of fire.
The armed forces said seven of the attackers were killed during the pursuit operation that followed the ambush.
According to the statement, troops later recovered weapons and ammunition from one of the fleeing suspects, including a G3 automatic rifle and several rounds of live ammunition.
Security forces also arrested ten additional suspects in connection with the incident, who are currently being interrogated to obtain further intelligence.
The military urged the public to avoid interfering with ongoing security operations and stressed the importance of cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
It also expressed condolences to the families of those killed and wished the injured victim a quick recovery, while assuring that efforts were ongoing to stabilise the area and prevent further attacks.
