FHA Staff Petition EFCC, Accuse Tinubu’s In-Law of Abuse of Office, Bragging About Being ‘Untouchable’
Staff members of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) have petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing the agency’s Managing Director, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, of gross abuse of office, financial misconduct, and treating the government institution as a personal enterprise.
The petition, also addressed to President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, alleges that Ojo has engaged in corrupt practices and routinely undermined internal procedures.
Ojo, who is President Tinubu’s son-in-law, was appointed as FHA Managing Director in February 2024, a decision that drew criticism over claims of nepotism.
The petition, dated July 7, 2025, outlines a series of allegations including illegal land allocations, questionable contract awards, and extravagant personal spending billed to the Authority.
The staff accuse Ojo of sidelining senior management, ignoring ministerial directives, and creating an environment of impunity.
According to the petitioners, Ojo frequently boasts about being “untouchable” due to his family ties and political connections. “He openly refers to himself as the ‘Jagaban boy’ and claims to have the full backing of the President, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal,” the petition states.
The petition further alleges that the FHA has come under the complete control of Ojo, who now personally handles sensitive matters such as land allocations and financial authorizations without proper documentation.
Staff claimed that even top management officials are no longer granted access to records and are routinely bypassed in key decisions.
In one incident highlighted in the petition, a staff member was allegedly detained and tortured over a missing $50,000 bribe.
The petitioners described this as an example of how the institution has become a hostile and dangerous workplace. They also raised concerns that Ojo may be using FHA resources to build a political base ahead of a potential governorship run in Ekiti State.
The petitioners are demanding a thorough investigation by the EFCC into all financial and administrative actions taken by Ojo since his appointment.
They also urged the federal government to restore proper ministerial oversight and accountability to the FHA and remove what they described as the “personalisation” of the agency’s operations.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Ojo nor the EFCC has responded publicly to the allegations. The Presidency and the Ministry of Housing have also remained silent.
However, sources within the Ministry suggest that internal reviews may be underway pending formal directives. The petition has sparked widespread discussion online, with many Nigerians calling for transparency and action from the authorities.
