Zulum Inaugurates ₦15.9 Billion Flyover, Schools in Maiduguri
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has commissioned a ₦15.9 billion flyover in the Post Office area of Maiduguri. The project is the fourth flyover in the state capital and was completed in 11 months.
The nine-span flyover was awarded in 2025 to Chinese contractors, Eighteenth Engineering Company. Speaking after the commissioning on Sunday, Zulum said the structure is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve road safety and make it easier for people and goods to move along one of Maiduguri’s key transport routes.
The governor also commissioned school projects, including Larawaram Community Senior Secondary School and Shehu Sanda Kyarimi 1 Primary and Junior Day Secondary School. In addition, a dualised 2.5km road and 5km drainage in the Kasuwan Shanu area were unveiled.
The road and drainage works cost about ₦5 billion. Zulum said the projects reflect the government’s continued commitment to improving mobility, strengthening urban infrastructure and supporting economic and social development in the state.
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, who attended the event, commended the Borno government for the projects. He congratulated the people of Maiduguri, describing them as the main beneficiaries of the new infrastructure.
