Accord Party Denies Endorsing Tinubu, Backs Adeleke for Osun Governorship Poll

The Accord Party has denied reports suggesting it endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reaffirming its support for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

In a statement issued by its national leadership, the party described the claims of an endorsement as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard what it called “unfounded political speculation.” The party maintained that its focus remains firmly on the Osun governorship race, where it is backing Adeleke for a second term.

According to the party, there has been no agreement, alliance, or arrangement to support Tinubu’s political ambitions, emphasizing that any reports suggesting otherwise do not reflect its official position.

The clarification comes amid heightened political activities and shifting alliances as stakeholders prepare for the next election cycle in Osun State. The development highlights the complex and evolving political landscape in the state, where alignments across party lines have continued to generate speculation.

While Adeleke has, in separate remarks, expressed support for Tinubu’s potential re-election bid in 2027, the Accord Party insists its immediate priority is securing victory in the Osun governorship poll.

Political observers note that the situation reflects a broader trend of fluid loyalties and strategic positioning among political actors ahead of key elections. The denial by the Accord Party is expected to shape ongoing campaign narratives and may influence how alliances are formed in the lead-up to the poll.

As the election approaches, analysts say the contest is likely to intensify, with parties working to consolidate support bases and clarify their political positions.

For now, the Accord Party’s stance underscores its commitment to Adeleke’s candidacy while distancing itself from any perceived endorsement of the president.
