Buhari’s Son, Yusuf, Declares 2027 House of Representatives Bid on APC Platform
Yusuf Buhari, the son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has officially declared his intention to run for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
He is seeking to represent the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The declaration was made in Daura, where Yusuf addressed a gathering of party stakeholders and local supporters. His announcement followed a visit to the Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, on Wednesday, where he reportedly sought the governor’s support for his legislative ambitions.
During his address to the supporters, Yusuf emphasized his commitment to serving the constituency with integrity. He expressed his gratitude to the people for their time and dedication, assuring them that if he is elected, he would do his utmost to represent their interests effectively and would not disappoint them.
The event featured expressions of support from local political figures, including Alhaji Musa Haro, the Dan Madamin Daura and District Head of Dumurkol. Haro urged the party faithful to mobilize for Yusuf’s candidacy, noting that the campaign team would visit towns and villages across the constituency to garner support.
Efforts to solidify his candidacy will also include engaging with other political aspirants interested in the same seat. Haro emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating that the campaign aims to reach out to these aspirants to foster unity and build a broader coalition of support for Yusuf’s bid.
While promoting Yusuf’s entry into the race, Haro also acknowledged the performance of the current representative, Hon. Aminu Jamo. He noted that Jamo has done his best during his tenure, reflecting a nuanced approach to the political contest as the party navigates the primary and election processes.
Yusuf Buhari was accompanied during the event by a former member representing the constituency, Fatuhu Muhammad, alongside other family members. The move signals a notable step into frontline politics for the former President’s son, as he prepares to challenge for the position currently held by Hon. Jamo.
